Welcome To My Blog...
Hello to you and welcome to my world, the universe of the good, the not so good and the best of Interior Design. I have been an Interior Designer for nearly sixteen years; first on the East Coast, and for the last five years, in Arizona. I live and breathe design, I ooze recreation of interiors from every pore of my being. I honestly can't imagine my life without going to a restaurant and redesigning the layout or going to someone's home and redecorating their living room in my head- it's what I am, not what I do. BUT- THIS IS NOT ANOTHER BORING HOW- TO FOR THE DO IT YOURSELFER!
To be perfectly honest, Interior Design is a tool best left to the craftsman. Sure, many homeowners can tackle small projects on their own, and some have good taste in furnishings and color selection, but Interior Design is so much more than picking throw pillows and tones of taupe! There are codes, measurements, scale and safety issues to take into account when planning a good space. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a home where the furniture is too large for the space, interrupting the traffic flow. It's too late to change it once you've dropped the $5K on that custom leather sofa! Of course, you just might see a lengthy, detailed account of the major mistakes that client made on my blog. WHY? To vent about the process from a designer's point of view, to explain why the choices were wrong and how not to make the same mistakes yourself, and because the world of design is just plain fun! I love what I do, but it is not all peaches and cream, especially lately... Take a peek into the daily life of an Interior Designer for the famous, infamous and the common homeowner.
